It's 29 degrees with 20 mph winds. I have a leaky old OK Joe Highland offset Walmart special. Is there a better day to smoke a couple of butts?

Nope. Every day is a good day to smoke some butts. Post some pics when you are done.

Keep on adding charcoal and/or wood and if all else fails finish in the oven.

Lots of times I start a brisket or butt in the evening and get a few hours of smoke on them then wrap and cook them overnight at around 210-225. Bark won't be as firm but I get to sleep.

My family prefers very tender, not too smokey meat over bark so it depends on your preference.

Great excuse to stay warm while stoking the fire:)

At least you are melting the snow under the firebox. Just keep moving that thing around your driveway and you won't have to shovel.

I've been known to do that too, and even have a few electric roasters around for it. Like now, I just put the butts in a roaster and put big pans of mac & cheese and baked beans on the smoker. It all works out in the end!

About another two hours. Butts are at 190 so I'm going to pull them so they can rest. Need to finish up the baked beans and mac & cheese.

My youngest son and his girlfriend are here on leave and my parents will be joining us tonight. I love a good evening with family.
