What are the pros/cons of this type of setup and what is it called. Looks cool. Just wondering... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170121/991bc3609070542198744c703d75ae84.jpg

It generically can be referred to as a "FrankenWeber", and I agree the goal is more cooking surface and/or lower pit temps.

Hmm, no lower vent damper on the front at least. If it's the same on the back two I'd expect it to be tough to control temps and maintain the chimney effect using just the vent damper in the lid.

I'm confused. Is the bottom of that kettle cut out or in place??? That's a big factor to the main question here :-D

I agree. Pretty useless if they're trying to get heat up into the kettle through the bottom daisy wheel.
Unless they wanna cold smoke...

I've seen other setups like this. And my main question or confusion was in the bottom of the kettle. Is it cut or what's the deal?!

It works awesome. I mounted a 22" kettle on my 18.5 wsm. I did cut out the bottom of the kettle. Fixing to remove the 22" and mount a 26er.
