Hi all

Happy New Year to you all......

I was looking at the small components for my build, was trying to locate a couple of suitable grommets for my Maverick probes.....there are some available on eBay but they want silly money for them, from memory about £15 inc postage (US based), so I started looking.....I did think about a Stainless Steel barb which I'm using for the turkey thermo....but it won't work as there's a bend in the food probe.

Anyway I've ordered up a couple of these..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1Pair-Stainless-Steel-Ear-Tunnel-Plug-Earring-Stretcher-Flesh-Expander-Piercing-/252052743961?var=550909894274&hash=item3aaf83a719:m:m3kETP6ItfGhozc017skv6g - one pair in 6mm, one in 8mm the Maverick probe is about 6mm so thought I would hedge my bets......any thoughts on these?

I will get a couple of small silicone plugs for when they're not in use.....

I just drilled holes big enough for the probes and stuffed aluminum foil in the holes to seal them up

I used high heat grommets from McMaster Carr. When not used golf tees seal them from air flow

I just drilled a three holes -- for multiple probes -- never have had to plug them when not in use

Drill a hole. I wouldn't about that much smoke or heat coming from it. I drilled one on mine and built a table right above it to conceal it and put my maverick right above it and ran cord right below it.

Thanks for the views....just don't want to snag the wires ....for a £1 it's worth it as opposed to a new probe.....
