View Full Version : Yoder YS640 Probe Ports?

My coworker just took delivery of his new YS640 comp cart. He decided on the 640 based on the recommendations of myself and my teammate after discussing his needs/wants in a smoker. He ordered it with a probe port, but it doesn't appear that the port was installed. Additionally, there's a secondary bracket attached inside the cooker with a rubber cap on the outside on the hopper side of the cooker. This is different than my teammate's 640 that has the probe ports on the side opposite the hopper, where the SS table is. I told my coworker to give ATBBQ and/or Yoder a call to see if something changed or if the port installation was simply missed, but I decided to ask the Brethren as well.

Any ideas what this little guy is? Did Yoder change the probe ports? If so, why is it on the opposite side of the SS shelf? There's absolutely nothing in his YS640 manual about this.

This is what the probe port should look like...

Looks to me like it is set up for a rotisserie. My two ports are on the shelf side like yours.

these are the new probe ports that now come standard. The silver bit turns away and give an opening. Not sure exactly how it works but saw it on the Yoder facebook group.

Is there any info online? Waiting for my join request to get accepted to the Facebook group.

This is the new style probe ports. Pop out the round black seal and put your probes through the hole while sliding the inside cover up. After probes are inside cooker adjust the inside cover for the wires

to go through the indentions on the inside cover. These are now standard.
