Padawan and Phubar's Trip to CaliPhornia Day 16

[Phubar]

Went to the mall to buy some souvenirs.
Greg cooked some beePh ribs and chicken for his oldest son and colleagues.
Watched a Volunteers Phootball game.
Dinner at Tonybel and Marybel's with Campdude and his wife.

Tony and Marybel cooked up some Mexican Phood (oPhcourse) for us.
Phlank steak,chicken,pork and beans,Mexican rice.
Campdude brought poundcake for dessert.

Chicken was marinated in Carolina Treet...Greg saved and boiled the remains of the marinade and basted the chicken with it.

Using Carolina Treet. It's a mustard based sauce/marinade I found out about while in NC a couple years back. It's really fantastic stuff. I'll marinate chix in it for several hours then baste (either with fresh or the marinade with the nasties boiled out) towards the end of the cook. It's my favorite way to cook chix and a standard at our house. I buy that chit by the case.

That was another incredibly cool day! Just hanging at the house, cooking, etc. and then the meal at Tony and Maribel's was simply incredible - just amazing. It was really nice to have such great Phood and conversation with everyone that night - very, very enjoyable. As Tony said - an authentic Mexican meal - everything but the drunk uncle! Anyway, a really fun group of people right there.

I've made those beans a couple times since then - they're delicious, but not as good as Tony and Maribel's. Maybe I'll get it down after 10 or 20 years.

Looks like y'all had yet another wonderful time.

I was at that football game and y'all might have seen me. Was wearing an orange shirt that was borrowed from my nephew (apparently burnt is the wrong shade of orange). Had a great time in Greg's old stomping grounds with my TN kinfolk.
