Thinking of smoking a turkey for tomorrow night's Viking / Packer game. How long should a turkey be brined for it to have any effect?

Wet brine 1-2 hours per pound
Dry Brine 2-3 hours per pound

Is it enhanced, normally I cut the salt in half and do overnight.

Yup! 12lb turkey X 1-2 hours per lb (for wet brine) = 12-24 hours

The last one I did overnight was not quite all the way through. Next time three days with ice water brine.

I usually let mine brine for 2-3 days in ice water salt and seasonings. The meat is great but you tend to loose the great crispy skin.

Ditto on this. Doing a normal brine on an enhanced bird makes a very salty turkey.....

Never done a dry brine....Can someone explain that for me. or Pics
I thought it was always done in water with whatever seasonings you like.

I usually let mine brine for 2-3 days in ice water salt and seasonings. The meat is great but you tend to loose the great crispy skin.
Try a dry brine the next time. Skin will crisp right up.
