Got really excited. Went to the hardware store and bought all stainless steel replacement hardware (cost about $30). Got home followed the instructions. Got to the last step... put the door on.

Ugghhh! The door doesn't fit! Going to have to call customer service :(
Stay tuned. We'll see how good their CS is... I was really hoping to use this on Labor Day

Calling CS right now. There is a 20 minute wait! And no option for having them call me back - horrible hold music.

Tested the thermometer in boiling water. It was off by 30*. I wonder if that's even worth complaining about to CS because I'm sure if they send me a new one it'll probably be off too.

UPDATE:
CS system was down. But after some words they are supposed to send me a new door. It'll ship on Tuesday because of the holiday. No new smoker for me for Labor Day . I didn't bother asking for a new thermometer because they frustrated me a bit. The woman said "Well congratz on your new grill...even though you can't use it." Thanks for rubbing it in. Weber certainly has much smoother CS.

So I called CS today, because I never got a shipping confirmation the last two days. It turns out they plain forgot about me. I was still in the system with what I wanted but had been looked over. So now my order is in. 7-10 days for shipping. "Wait? They told me they could expedite the delivery when I first called." - "Sorry we cannot do that."

:mad2: :frusty:

I better be extremely happy with this cooker because I'm already regretting not getting a pit from Academy now because of their CS. I was supposed to be cooking on this pit for Labor Day.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, but the good new is, you should be able to make an adjustment on the thermometer to get it dialed in.

I don't see any adjustment screw on it

This is killing me. I have been considering one of these and have been looking forward to a Brethren review.

Got the new door today. I unwrapped it, and started to put it on. To find out, yet again it doesn't fit! Luckily enough this time the problem was just with a single hinge out of whack, so I bent it a touch and got the door to swing close very nicely!!

I'm super stoked and excited about it! I bought a replacement River Country thermo, along with a second RC thermo to install into the door. I also purchased a WSM probe gasket that I plan on installing as well. I'm thinking I'm going to install that on the cook chamber, but I'll give it a better look over tomorrow and make sure where I end up putting it makes sense.

I still need to source some firewood in Sioux Falls, though. Sioux is native american for "Land of No Trees"

It's usually not an adjustment screw, the the nut at the base of the probe that can turn. Start the vid at about the :25 sec mark, it shows what I'm talking about.

Amazon.com: 3" River Country (RC-T3) Easy Mount Adjustable BBQ, Grill, Smoker Thermometer (100 to 550 F): Kitchen & Dining

I don't need an Exact thermo - long as it's relatively close works for me..........+/- 10-15* at 300*

I just tossed the one that came with the pit. Perhaps I could have adjusted it, the RC thermos that I got in are a bit hefty, feel much nicer. I'll keep those on the pit
