A couple of weeks ago, pork butts were $1.34 at Wally World. Yesterday, $1.94. Are you farkers responsible for this? Supply & Demand or some evil scheme from beef and chicken producers?

Good question, I haven't looked lately.

A guy in a grocery store once told me that prices were higher because college football season had started. That sounds like opportunity gouging to me.

I checked Indian Hills Meats here in Wichita, KS a couple of weeks ago and bone in all natural pork butts were $1.39 per pound and boneless pork butts at Costco were $1.99 per pound. Not bad.

Pork is a commodity, pricing will change based upon demand, market conditions, and honestly, seasons. Just get a big freezer and buy when the prices suit you.

Chiming in with the rest of the guys that got .99cents/lb at kroger last week. I'm sure you kroger guys saw it, the chicken wings were .99cents/lb too. I picked up 40lbs of wings. :-D
Went back to get more butts and wings today but they had zero of each. So customer service desk gave me 2 rain checks with no limits. score

HEB here in Texas just started their weekly specials today. Pork Butts (all natural in cryo) are $1.00/lb.

I mention the natural part because there are many places such as Wallyworld that sell enhanced versions. You are paying for a salt water injection in that case, which affects the value you are getting. 12% solution means you are paying for 12% salt water, so that needs to be figured into the cost per lb.

I was going to mention this, I haven't seen ANY pork or chicken at Walmart that is not enhanced which is why I do not buy pork or chicken there. I do however get their briskets which are usually around $2 and change per/lb which is dirt cheap around here.

Peeps won't buy enhanced, but they will inject. Please explain to me the difference. Is it the liquid, the enhanced ingredients, the amount. I don't inject, but My palate can't tell the difference in enhanced or not.

In the middle TN area they were in the $1.99/lb range, but now I've been seeing them working themselves down a little bit recently.
