Makes me glad I'm cooking with straight wood splits more and more...and if not it's lump. The only exception is if I have to cook for large groups then the el cheapo KBB comes out. Limestone, coal and corn starch just doesn't seem appetizing plus the pounds of powder it produces since it doesn't burn...well ugh! Can't stand all that leftover powder.

Sorry Andy I suppose I'm a wood snob, but I just like the flavor of the real thing.

thanks for posting the vid.
I think there is a time and place for kbb, as there is for all different fuels. there is a time and a place for all the different cooker configurations ..... thats why we need them all =)

It has its uses, but I do much prefer wood sticks or lump for most of my smoking and grilling.

Brings back memories of one that was here years ago. You could go by there at night and it looked like the place was on fire. Thanks for sharing.

Yep, I guess there is a reason I've never really liked KBB or any briquettes. Although I will still often use the RO Ridge briquettes when the occasion calls for it. My lump grays over without the added lime...?

That was informative. There are some I interesting parts to making briquettes. I had no idea about lime being necessary to make them turn white?

Cool video, picked up 10 two packs of Kingsford over the weekend. That will get me to Labor Day for the next sales. Love KBB.

Ole henry ford invented kingsford charcoal at the dearborn plant,

And then moved it to Kingsford Michigan (hence the name of the product) and it was made there for years. Not any more though...
