I really like black ops rub for brisket, But the last brisket I cooked I used Oak Ridge Beef & Pork Comp. Guess B&P Comp is my favorite now. The flavor is awesome IMO! It's different but I love the bark flavor B&P Comp produces

This is pretty close to perfect for me. The older I get the more I like the simple things.

It seems like I see a lot of the Black Ops, and isn't there a "Smokin' Guns" or something like that? But then I see a whole lot of just S&P or SPOG. Myself, I'm good with the SPOG.

Best brisket to date was S&P with the pepper side a bit more than salt. A very close second was Black Ops.

SPOG. I occasionally try other things, but I keep coming back to it.

I like the stuff that La Barbecue and Franklin use. My current favorite is Dink's Udder Madness.

The last couple briskets I've done turned out amazing, and this is all I used on them.

SPOG, heavy on the P, and Worcestershire sauce. Maybe add a little Chipotle powder if I want a little spice.

Another good rub is Ted & Barney's Meat Seasoning. Have used it on brisket, tritips and steaks. Have not tried their H-3 (spicier blend), just the original.

They are long time brethren here and give away a free bottle to a member here every month for just saying "hi" in the thread below (and that thread's been going since 2012).

8 parts coarse ground pepper
3 parts Lawry's
3 parts kosher salt
1 part granulated garlic
Rub it down with a half and half mixture of hot dog mustard and pickle juice first before sprinkling the rub on.

I go back and forth between Oakridge Black Ops (really tasty bark) and S&P. I just cooked 110# yesterday, just S&P (50/50 by volume) with a combination of hickory & pecan. They were great and everybody seemed to really enjoy tem.

I always just use Kosher Salt and Black Pepper on brisket. I did a taste test several years ago using S&P on one brisket and a highly regarded comp team rub on the other. Results were 7 people chose the S&P as best, 1 chose the rub.
