Someone posted last week about a sweet deal they got on their Performer and I thought I'd post mine. Picked it up for $100! They only used it a couple times. They said they are too lazy to use charcoal and just wanted to get rid of it. Even came with a cover.
Only thing wrong with it is the starter won't ignite the gas. I took it off and you can visually see a spark but for some reason it's not igniting inside the tube. Any ideas?
Cooked up a couple ribeyes last night to break her in (sorry, forgot pics).

They have a propane starter and it was too much work? Wow.
Awesome find, congratulations!

Haha, yep. I think they bought it thinking the starter would make it more likely for them to use it. Guess they were wrong.

Check to see if anything is blocking the burner tube like cobwebs or junk covering where the flame comes out, also check to see if the bottle is screwed all the way in and it has gas. I have one like it and i make sure the gas knob is all the way open. Good luck!

It could be that the igniter is too close (or too far for that matter) to the burner. I've had that problem in the past on gas grills.

Awesome score. I got my blue base model DH (2004), for $80, even though he was asking $125. Still looking for one with a gas assist, and charcoal storage.

The burner actually works if I light it myself. It's just the push button starter isn't igniting the gas.

The igniter goes straight into the tube the gas passes through so it should be getting a spark around the gas but for some reason isn't. Maybe it's just too weak of a spark.

I have an older one and there is a line from the gas to the metal tube leading into the grill; on that line there is a small outlet for the gas about the size of a pin, it'll get clogged with dirt and impede the flow of gas preventing the starter down the tube from being effective; clean it out with a small wire and see if that fixes it if you have the same setup
Wow. That's very sweet for $100. Congrats!

Yeah, I've had this problem before too. Just take it apart, clean it up and put it back together. Should be able to get it working. Only time I couldn't is on one performer where it was real rusty at that screw that held the two ignition wires together. I couldn't get a clean contact to make it spark enough and I had to buy a new ignitor. It came with the button, wires and everything. Pretty sure I got it on Ebay .

Nice score. Make sure there is no corrosion where the wires connect to the button and where the screw that holds the sparking end to the gas tube. Always turn the gas on at least a full turn.
