I'm a newbie here, so please forgive me if this is a recurring question, but it's simply does anybody else use/suggest A-1 Sauce as a slather, injection, or in their sauce? Reason I ask is I did a packer brisket last weekend using A-1 as "rub glue" and a small amount in the dipping sauce, too. I didn't nail the brisket cook, so when I serve it this weekend I'll have to wrap and heat it up pretty good to finish it. [In my defense it was -10F with wind and I'm just using a 22" Weber.] That said, the flavor was really excellent.

I haven't, I find the vinegar of A1 stings a bit harsh for most bbq, but I could see that cooking off. Yellow mustard is a great neutral rub glue. I've been known to pour some worcestershire sauce over beef before cooking though. And I sometimes like a steak sauce (I'll take country bob's over A1 though) for a kind of bland steak like a filet.

I haven't used it in smoking, but I use it on burgers in the summer.

Maybe you are on to something, glad you had a great cook with good flavors. Keep us posted on future results if you try it again.

I haven't used A-1, but I have a really good sauce recipe that starts with Hienz 57.

Agree with Soybomb... although If you find out how to include it where it would help with flavor but not enough to get that vinegar taste come through it might be good. For me, I love the stuff with a good steak or on a burger.... just think for bbq it may be too much.

Have not used A-1 for BBQ, but I use it frequently in braises and stews to add depth of flavor. Good stuff, no reason it can't work with beef bbq.

BTW: Yellow mustard is almost all vinegar, so if it cooks off, the vinegar in A-1 should too.

Why do you want to kill a perfectly good piece of beef with A-1?

I use it, at the plate, on mediocre cuts of steaks. Haven't seen a recipe for cooking with it, though lots of them use Worcestershire.

I've used A1 in a marinade for goat, it turns out tasty. I like the meatloaf idea. Will give it a try. Thanks!

Use A-1 with worcestershire to marinate burger patties, also on some steaks, good on most all beef.
