For nineteen years my grandfather and uncle had an annual pig roast. I would stay with my grandparents for a month to help prepare. The tradition died with the passing of my grandfather years ago. This year I decided to "bring back the pig" and continue the tradition. It's not done in the cinder pit oof old, but my new Assassin grill hybrid will do:tongue:

We named her Laverne. She weighed in at 53.5 pounds.....

Happy New Year!

I think my grandfather would be proud. Everyone had a great time and the pig was extremely moist. I can't wait to do another one.

Looks delicious, Wiz!

If only your Porky, "Laverne" had been cooked in a Shirley! :tsk:

Good to see old traditions make a comeback.

Very Nice in all aspects!
How did you like using your Assassin? Did you add coals/wood thru the cook?

Man that looks awesome! I love how a whole hog looks when prepared! Just started BBQ-ing this year and I would love to do a whole hog once in my life time!

Love that your reviving the tradition! I feel traditions are ment to be kept! Even if we lost some loved ones I'm sure they would be smiling knowing that family traditions are still going! :thumb:

Thanks! Loved it! It performed exactly how i wanted. I setup a maze of coal in both trays then added a few lit coals as needed (not much)

Just sayin lol:clap2:The grate is 48" The cooker is 54". No worries on the question. I sort of figured it might spawn some curiosity:thumb:

Awesome! Also would love to know if it was the 4' assassin and how it performed. Trying to buy one any day nowThe grate is 48". It performed amazingly! You would be remiss to not get one. I suggest you get the front loading, split doors/trays. This modification provides so many cooking options.
