I can get choice at RD all day long but I haven't found a source of prime around here at all. Especially nothing that's decently priced. Anyone know of any spots?

Do you have a CostCo nearby? They seem to have them regularly.

Ron, are you finding them at the costcos around here? I am not a member, but would become one just for prime packers. I've asked a few friends to check their local costco but no one has seen the elusive prime packer yet...

I got one recently at UW Provisions in Middleton.
Not very close to you, but road trips are always good.
Always a good idea to call a day in advance and order however many you want.

If you request it, normally Costco will stock it. If you can get a few folks to request it, then it is a lot more likely they will make the effort.

Personally, I just mail order from SRF or Creekstone, but, there, decent price is relative.

Ill have to give Costco a call. Never thought of checking there. I don't have a membership so I'll have to confirm that they have them relatively often before I join since I don't really have any other reason to join.

I don't have a Costco membership either, but a couple of guys have found them at the one in St. Charles.

Check Sam's too. Here in central Iowa they have them all the time. I would think your area would have them too. The are $2.58/# for singles here.

The two Sam's near me always seem to have only choice. I'll have to ask them if they ever get any primes in.

I have never seen prime at the Costco in Pewaukee, only choice. I am going at lunch today and will check again. GFS by Miller park carries whole packers, but again I have never seen prime around here. I think special order is probably the only option around here.

Got a prime brisket from Costco about 2 weeks ago for something around the area of 2.50-2.80/lb in Madison West side Costco.

@shagdog The Costco in Glenview at willow and patriot stocks them regularly. 12-14# whole packers. Sorry I don't know the exact price but not much different than the choice at RD - I don't think they were any more than $4/lb. Planning to do 1 or two at the holidays; I've been happy with them. cheers!

That's not too bad for prime. I'm glad the price of beef seems to have dropped some.

A first for me! Pewaukee Costco has prime briskets for 2.79#, they average 13#-15#, not sure for how many or how long
