I used an electrical conduit nut and nipple. Plug it with a wood cork.

Take one of the grommets to a NAPA store and get a vacuum cap that slips inside the grommet to seal it when not in use...

Plus 1 on the conduit connector. 1/2 inch is large enough to get the connector end of the probe thru.

Patiently waiting on the "oh my God you're putting Zinc in your smoker" crew to show up....

Hmmmm....think that's another bbq forum I frequent.

You guys seal the conduit connector with a hunk of cork, correct? Next trip to HD I will be picking these parts up..Thanks for posting...

Any good electrical supply should have a cord grip (CGB) in the size you need all in one fitting.
A 7/8" bi-metal hole saw will make the hole for the 1/2" conduit fitting.

The cork is in those drawers of odds and ends @ Lowes in the hardware section. I believe the total cost was like 3 dollars.

No pics but I drilled a 1" hole in the side of my UDS. I covered it with a fridge magnet that had a 1/4" hole drilled in to let the maverick probes to pass thru. Simple, cheap and got rid of one ugly magnet off the fridge.

No fitting or hardware needed -drill a hole or cut a slot and take a file to get rids of sharp edges. Either works and if you are real anal about "losing smoke"- never open the doors.

Freak has shown exactly what I use. The 1/2" connector is great for 2 probes with no problem. They are available in the electrical dept. at Lowe's. The rubber grommet comes with it. If you don't have a spare 1/2" threaded outlet in your CC, drill a 7/8" hole and secure it with the nuts that come with it.

I can't figure out what the cork is for. Mine never leaks.

Makes me wonder why you'd ever have to replace them in the first place.

I bought some to put in my kettles to keep from having to clamp the lid over the wires. They are used on some of the newer Weber stuff (newer WSMs I think) and work on almost any smoker or grill. They are made of a flexible rubber or plastic material and will fit flat or curved surfaces.
