I love these thing but mine come out butt ugly. When the bacon is done (enough) my peppers are mush. When I use thongs they just fall apart.

I have been cooking at 275-300 till bacon turns brown, not crisp just done.

First off maybe you need a new thong. I don't want to know lol.

Are you cutting the bacon in half or using whole pieces?

How thick is the bacon? Thick cut thin cut? I would try thinner bacon. That way the bacon cooks faster but the pepper cooks less time.

Rusty is on it here. 1/2 of a strip of standard thickness bacon. Spiral wrap to cover the filling. I cook mine at around 250 and have done hundreds to perfection.

Got it just quit using my thong and all is good!. I meant tongs!

Yes I use thin bacon whole strip and wrap as tight as I can. Cover all of the pepper and stab with toothpick. Peppers turn to goo and bacon is browned. It must just be I used too high of heat. I'm going to try some low and slow with a PB this week end. Say 240-250 degrees and 35-45 minutes.

A man using his thong cooking BBQ is just wrong.

Take cheez's advice and go at 250.

I throw mine in the freezer for a hour than put them on that way the bacon cooks before the pepper and filling does

Try cooking the bacon 1/2 way before wrapping. Once I started doing that they turned out a lot better

I agree with rusty kettle and cheez 59, cut bacon in half. I use the thinest, cheapest bacon I can find, and they all turn out great.

I like to partially precook the bacon

I like to load my ABT`s on a pizza screen then you don't have to mess with them as much.

Good to see you back on here Craig. Doesn't the bacon shrink up and get greasy even partially cooked?
