Been using Plowboys Yardbird for years. It's great on pork, but when I use it on chicken, it seems the salt is overpowering. Thanks.

Try making your own......could use the one you like as a base and add non salty ingredients to dilute the salt content

I love oakridge secret weapon on chicken. I also really like Simply Marvelous pecan or cherry! Not salty at all! Can't go wrong with either one of those.

Interesting - I am just the opposite - Love Yardbird on chicken, but find it too salty for pork.
Are you looking for something with a kick or sweet?

The best non salty rub I've used is Bone Sucking Sauce rub. Oak Ridge Dominator Sweet Rib Rub is also excellent. Either is great on chicken.

I'll tell you one of the best kept secrets in rubs. These rubs are phenomenal from a company called Island Spice. I could use their all purpose all day long everyday and not get tired of it, their chicken rub is pretty good as well....can't say enough good things about it. The flavor is outstanding.

The ms. Dash line is salt free, add to taste.

I actually like Mrs. Dash, however, for a more traditional BBQ rub flavor, I use Dizzy Pig Dizzy Dust salt free, and add salt as desired.

OakRidge, excellent rub!

I was pleasantly surprised by Kirkland Signature™ Sweet Mesquite Seasoning (http://www.costco.com/Kirkland-Signature%E2%84%A2-Sweet-Mesquite-Seasoning-4-pack.product.11663696.html)
Although the 1st ingredient is salt it does not taste salty...

Welcome to the club...... I also found the salt to overpowering on pork with a good liberal coating.

I would also suggest OakRidge BBQ Rubs (https://www.oakridgebbq.com/)... OakRidge prides themselves with a lower salt and sugar content in the rub, thus giving you more spices. I switched 3 years ago and have never even thought about other rubs.

You can get a sample pack for $4.95 (https://www.oakridgebbq.com/product-tag/sample/)including the delivery. They also have multiple points of distribution so you do not have to buy from one distributor.

Simply Marvelous sweet and spicy, pecan, or spicy Apple. All 3 fit the bill of sweet and kick without too much salt.
