Good morning/afternoon everyone.

I'm cooking for a crowd tomorrow and am planning on serving a whole standing rib roast. Has anyone had any experience with the roasts from Cash and Carry? It also seems like, here in the northwest at least, that they sell roasts from a couple of suppliers. Any input would be great!

BTW, I'm going to cook the roast between two fires, as I've done in the past with lamb, ribs, etc. I'll be sure to post pics.

I have had good success with the meats at Cash & Carry

We have had pretty good luck with their Rib Roasts. Sometines just to cut into steaks.

I have found that if you get the ones that come from St. Helens Meat - They are very good.

BTW - as a little "bet you didn't know that" for today, St. Helens is brand of AgriBeef, who also runs Double R Ranch and Snake River Farms. http://agribeef.com/Our%20Brands

We don't get the St. Helens brand down here. I've had good luck with the meat at C&C though

Thanks Shane - I did not know that. I did know I liked the quality and watch for it.

Our local Haggens carry Double R Ranch also.

It's good meat. I go to the Burlington, WA C&C. I've had really good luck with the rib roasts, strip loin, and tenderloin. Most of the time I cut them all into steaks and vacuum seal them.

So I called the 4th Ave S Cash and Carry and the have roasts from IBP and some other brand with Angus in the title, the IBP being a bus or so cheaper. Suggestions?

They normally carry two grades, one select, and one choice, the choice is normally a buck more a lb, but worth it!!!

Almost all the meat we have gotten has been IBP, never been disappointed.

Good choice! I do an annual cook for a family reunion, and for the last several years have gotten the CAB ribeye roast, and have had fantastic results. I have tried the IPB also and prefer the CAB, it is a bit spendier, but in my opinion worth it.

Let us know how it comes out!

Thanks! But as always, I lost my appetite and didn't eat more than a few morsels. Wish I could have eaten more!

Way overdone for my taste, I like medium rare to rare for my rib roasts, but if everybody was happy that is great! Nice cook.

The only St. Helens beef I've ever seen at Cash n Carry was Corned Beef packer briskets.

Yep. I cooked this thing until it almost fell apart. It was fork tender and packed with flavor. Just a different way to cook a ribeye.
