I've got 22 people to cook for. Two are under 6 years old, everyone else is at least a teenager, if not an adult. I'm doing TT, and chicken, plus beans, potato salad, green salad, and bread. Any idea how much TT and chicken I need?
Thanks,
Matt

I would say 4-5oz of each protein. +10% for contingency or leftovers. I know in my family they will eat more tri tip than chicken.
Congrats to your parents!
What kind of chicken you thinking of getting? Quarters, split chicken breasts??

Normally I figure 1/3-1/2 pound of meat then 1 pound of food total with sides per person as my general rule of thumb for most groups as a minimum. If you're doing two meats you may want to up the tritip a bit cause it will probably go over pretty well.
8 lb tritip
5 lb chicken
5 lb beans and potatoes each
I don't normally account bread and salad since most people have one of each and it doesn't affect how much they eat really.

Since we do have some youngsters, I was probably going to get quarters or halves, so there would be some drumsticks.

Congrats to your folks! And it looks like a good plan and advise so far. I also tend to lean toward the 1/3-1/2 pound per person range.
