Look on the bag. Does it say "original charcoal company"? If so, word on the BBQ street it is made by these folks:

Trader Joe's is made by Rancher

I use it all the time, good stuff.

I dont necessarily agree with that review compared to my experiences

Trader Joe's is a little bit of a hike for us, but we like it a lot and used to use it exclusively for competitions. Also, I don't think our Trader Joe's carries it year round, if they did we'd probably still compete with it.

I like it. I mostly use TJs and Stubbs.

Another vote in the positive. A bit of a bear to get lit if using a full chimney, but burns clean (great if you're using the Minion method), long, and consistent. It's one of my "go-to"s for long, low-and-slow cooks. Flavor is good, but not overpowering - blends nicely with most of the woods I've paired it with (pecan, oak, apple, cherry, peach.)
