Water pan vs ceramic plate

Gonna build a uds, looking for thoughts on weather to instal a water pan or a ceramic plate. Any thoughts on the matter? Just thought of this, what about using a large terra cotta pot dish as a water pan? Sort of ceramic yet still water. Wouldn't that be the best of both worlds?

Just make it versatile with a grill grate you can just set a water pan on or terra pot on if you want indirect. There's going to be times you want nothing and just cook direct and times you might want a holy pizza pan for a blended heat.
