i'm looking at these 2 smokers, a Oklahoma joe longhorn model for $150.00 or a old country bbq pits pecos model for $200.00 both have only been used a few times , which would you get and why ? thanks

I would look at thickness, size of CC, fit and finish, and overall fabrication quality.

I agree , which ever one is thicker metal . the thicker the metal the better it will hold heat .

I believe old country has a better quality control rep. Both are comparable pits

Given the choices get the Pecos better F&F and thicker steel.

Pecos - Bigger better exhaust at grate level and fully welded. smokers are about same size and close to same gauge steel as Pecos is lighter gauge than the Old Country Wrangler.

Pecos, long as the doors shut tight- I've heard some don't. It's all welded as opposed to some parts being bolted together on the ok joe. I have an ok joe highland and really like it, but I took the time to weld it together during assembly. I just wouldn't have been satisfied with bolts holding it together.
