At the moment I can find the spring great clip for my Thermoworks pit probe. I know it is not suppose to touch the grate. Suggestions?

ball up a piece of foil and stick the probe through it

Small potato works, too.

Small potato or onion either works fine, better than the clip in my mind.

Tater and onion together make a tasty snack!

I drilled a hole through 2 small pieces of wood. Insert the probe through them, and it holds it above the grate. I just keep them in the box with my thermo stuff, and use as needed.

Foil works just as good, but I don't have anything to throw away, now.

Drill a hole throught a wooden clothes pin. Clip the pin on the grate.
