I've seen a few threads on the Char-Griller Akorn and the owners of them seem to like them. I can buy a a used one locally for $100. Is it worth giving one a whirl for that? I'm not sure if it's really going to fit a niche I don't have covered in my cooking arsenal.

It's worth it to me unless it's in bad shape.

Agreed. Snap it up if it's in good shape. If nothing else, it'll get you screaming hot temps for pizza.

Depends how used. If it kept outside uncovered they go fast.

He said there is a spot on the handle where the paint came off a little. He said it's almost a year old and the clip still seals it tight.

For a hundred bucks, yep. Get a new handle.

I bought mine to replace my little bullet smoker/ grill. I'm happy with it, it took the bullets
place just fine.

I gave the bullet away tonight, to a guy starting out.

How long would it take to get to AZ....

I snagged it. :) The only real issue was the handle, so I'm going to see about getting a replacement.

Sweet contact smoke ninja for some pics on modding the intake. He bought his from ebijack and it's a great mod imo.

You got a damn good deal! Maybe just do a high heat burn out and you're ready to go.

Looks good! If it's a wood handle a little sanding and spray paint could do the trick.

Yeah, I'll have to see. It felt pretty rough so I think there is actually a crack there.

You can order a new handle from Chargriller

also look close at the ash pan, sometimes water gets between the layers and rusts if left outside uncovered

very nice addition to the arsenal!!!

Its a wooden handle, sand it and repaint it... Or leave it as is, all three of my Akorns the handles wear like that from a little use, I think it looks distressed/good...(:

Put some Loc-Tite on the bolts at the hinge and tables, they had a tendency to come loose on mine.
