having a hard time finding a high temp thermo for the outside of my grill that is in progress of being built....so far we have found a 2inch diameter one but id really rather have something i dont have to squint at lol....anyone know where we can find one? really want one at least 1000 degrees Fahrenheit

Hey I'm up with finding one but for now I just judge by how far the 550* is pegged! LOL

They make them we use them at the refinery all the time....they may be Ashcroft..... I am not in the field tonite... ... Got my buddy to check we use.... We use h.o. Trerice... Just called a field hand on the radio to check for me..... They aint cheep but are prolly 5/6 inches diameter...

Why you want one at 1000 deg. For most temp ranges we cook at, the larger the range the less accurate they are.

jbounds286 designed a neat cooker that he wants to use more as a wood fired grill/rotisserie cooking at higher temperatures. As the design/build has progressed it has become pretty obvious to me (build thread below) that it will do everything from traditional low-n-slow, hotter for grilling or really hot for pizzas depending on the size/intensity of the fire. I think he just wants a thermometer to cover the potential range.

here's a bbq one from Tel Tru, but it only goes to 750

yea...but im not worried about the +/- 10 degrees in error, its really nothing to worry about
