Why you want one at 1000 deg. For most temp ranges we cook at, the larger the range the less accurate they are.

jbounds286 designed a neat cooker that he wants to use more as a wood fired grill/rotisserie cooking at higher temperatures. As the design/build has progressed it has become pretty obvious to me (build thread below) that it will do everything from traditional low-n-slow, hotter for grilling or really hot for pizzas depending on the size/intensity of the fire. I think he just wants a thermometer to cover the potential range.

Build thread is here: http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=213816

Gotcha, just wondering. Guess I'm a little out of the loop over here in Japan.

here's a bbq one from Tel Tru, but it only goes to 750

http://www.teltru.com/p-261-barbecue-thermometer-3-inch-aluminum-dial-ut300-4-inch-stem-150750-degrees-f.aspx

here's a 5" dial tel tru bi metal that goes to 1000 - Down at the bottom you can adjust the range and stem size...
