Just threw a couple racks of baby backs dusted with Oakridge BBQ Dominator rib rub on the 27.75 OTG running lump and a little pecan at 250*-275*. Also threw together a small tray of beans. Still just me and Mac so I'm thinking we will have plenty.

Just as I put the ribs on, a big thunder storm rolled in off the Gulf from the west; looks like we are in for an afternoon of stormy weather. I'd never noticed how the top handle on the Weber is in perfect alignment with the top vent but that got me to thinking and I just fashioned a little rain tent out of foil. Crimped tightly around the handle and flared out to provide a little protection for the vent.

Looks like it will do the job just fine. See y'all back around dinner time.

Dave, Why can't I ever think of things like that? I'd still be standing there with an umbrella. Those ribs look great. The one on the left is huge for a baby back. Excellent color. I'd be happy to clean up your left overs, Joe

Some people have all the ingenuity...and the rest of us just copy. Nice mod!

Hope the ribs turn out well for you and the Mrs.

Dinner was good. Shot of the ribs fresh off the cooker.

Beans were real interesting; started with Bush's spiced chipolte baked beans and added some bacon, brown sugar onion, yellow mustard and ketchup in a small loaf pan on a corner of the cooker for the entire 4-1/2 hours. Came out like a cross between sweet baked beans and spicy charro beans. We liked it.

All plated up; ribs baked beans and green beans.

And the little rain tent worked great; I think I'm gonna need to make a more permanent version snap on/snap off version.

Thanks for lookin.

a rack of ribs each sounds about right.
