A friend made me some salsa. She made some more with more Jalapeno's when she realized it had no heat. Still no heat. I was thinking of adding some serrano pepper to it to kick it up. Should I sauté or cook the pepper first before adding it or just dice it up and throw it in. I like heat

Serranos or a little bit of habanero. I would add them fresh. Cooking kills some of the heat.

Thanks Ron L. I have fresh serranos on hand so that's probably what I will do.

Lack of heat is usually due to not using the whole pepper seeds & veins = heat

I always Smoke peppers till dry, onto the smoker as low as she'll
go, around 100 or so till the peppers are dry and crunchy.
I do cayenne and jalapeno that way, seeds and all. They turn out very hot.
