Looking for recommendations for a brisket and all around rub. Tried oak ridge bbq black ops and it was to hot and spicy for my taste. Would like to find one that has more of a sweet taste to it instead of the heat.

Texas style for me with salt and pepper only. Brisket done right is soooo tasty that i never could figure out why folks cover up the flavor of the meat with all sorts of fancy seasonings.
Not long ago I ate some brisket that had Caribbean jerk seasoning on it. It was good and quite different, but didn't taste like brisket at all as the seasonings overpowered the meat.
The only way I use sauce when ordering a steak is if the steak is really crappy, otherwise the meat tastes to danged good to disguise with other flavors

This is what I'm using on beef ribs tomorrow.

3/4c Course cracked Black Pepper

1/2c Kosher Salt

1/4c Garlic, Granulated

1/4c Garlic Powder

1/4c Onion Granulated

1/4c Onion Powder

1/2c rosemary, dried

A good mix of salt and pepper is the base for nearly every rub and quite good on its own.
