.....rotissering a full packer?

No real reason why you couldn't do it... Especially in a cage. If it was stuck on a spit I'd worry about it falling off near the end..

would make it easy to wrap. Just hold the paper on it and let her spin

Not at this time but I reserve the right to do so at a later time if conditions change.

I'd do it! Just make sure it's well secured.

Yeah in a basket that would probably turn out pretty well. Like other people have said make sure it is secure or you may lose it! Haha

I would consider it if there was a way to get it to work in my existing cookers. Really don't want to buy a whole new cooker just for this purpose.

Done a 4 bone prime rib on the spinner, but not a packer (yet!). Throw it on and post pics!!

My dream cooker is either a J&R or a Southern Pride both Rotisseries
I.M.H.O. Rotisserie food tastes way more betterer
Fill the cooker up with Briskets & Pork Shoulders let them baste each other

I have been wanting to. I wish I had a big enough basket to put in. I have a packer in the freezer I will have to try it hopefully soon.

Sound very interesting. That might have to become one of my future mod's to build, a basket as large as possible that will still rotate in the UDS on a spit. Go for it.

Not too many years ago, ( or has it? ) you could walk into some places that had a large clod of beef on a rotisserie cooking and you could order slices right off the spinning clod. That was before the popularity of the brisket became the norm for large chunks of beef. The ones I remember were not on a cage, but just on a rotating spit. There was a large supermarket in Norfolk Va. called the Giant Open Air Market that had a restaurant counter in the store that had such an offering. You could also go to the meat counter, and pick out a steak that fit your fancy, and carry it back to the restaurant counter, and for $.50 + the cost of the steak, they would cook it for you and throw in some bread. You could order potato and salad extra if wanted.

I always thought this was a neat idea, but have never seen the same or similar set up since. The roast beef was excellent and you could order from any range of doneness. This was back in the late 60's while I was in the Navy @ Little Creek, Va. Well... I guess it has been a while!

I have a confession to make...I was spinning a 12 lb packer when i made this thread.

The brisket turned out FANTASTIC...I'll share and show how it was done by this mid Summer I hope.

Cook temp and time...Averaged 350 and finished in less than 4 1/2 hours

I believe I saw this done on the ribolator and the results looked fabulous. I think this is a similar concept.

Laying something flat on a ferris wheel ain't rotissering.

Don't banish me but I just splurged on a very large gasser.

I'm actually thinking about throwing a packer on its spit.

If I end up doing it next month I'll post (if it's not a disaster)

because the ribolator is NOT a rotisserie device..it does NOT spin the meat over a fire....

Post it anyway. Might keep one of us from making the same mistake.

Ben there done that. It works however it flops around like a dead body until the meat sets up and gets firm. It's a little troubling to watch initially.

I'll show you how you can do two 12-13 lb without that troubling stuff....and go over a real fire if you want. Also cook more even believe it or not.
