So I made up a bunch of my rubs and ordered some from Oakridge to supplement and change flavors some. I put them all in plastic shakers from previous seasonings (the one pound containers).

I was excited to try their Black Ops vs my brisket rub the most. Went to season briskets and they looked off...

I had them on the back of my oven and my wife cleaned the oven...ugh. The self cleaning cycle was so hot it melted the containers and the sugar in the rubs.

6 - 1 pound containers full of rubs destroyed.

Wow, what a kick in the ...well you get it!

I think the wife needs to replace the OR rubs and apologize. Your free to show her this post. (Name and address withheld!)

Sorry for your loss.

OH MAN! That sucks.

Mine thought it was a good idea to move my Modernist Cuisine baking steel while "cleaning up" without my knowing. The problem was that she FOR SOME REASON beyond my imagination decided it would be a great idea to place it under the coffee maker. You know.....the machine and area only used by her that is constantly having water and such spilled because she's oh so graceful.:tsk::tsk::tsk:

By the time I needed to use it and asked why it wasn't in its usual spot it was in horrid shape........as was my countertops.

Why is it that "cleaning up" does more to destroy and lose things than it does being a positive thing?:heh::heh:

Yeah, we have for years. I cook everyday and leave the most used seasonings on the top of the control plate.

All in the spice grinder? I must say, that would be an interesting taste...

I bought a few Oakridge 1lb bags recently. I also use old plastic shaker bottles. When Im done seasoning i pour the rub back into the Oakridge bag. I think it will keep it fresh longer. Put those rubs in the cabinet bro.

I am redoing the kitchen anyway so the most used spices will get a custom, tiled spot above the range.

:thumb: YEP! Never know ..... left a pizza box on the gas range once, the dog went up to get the box and turned the range on. Good thing the wife was home or we would have lost the house. As it was, by the time she realized it was happening it was bad enough we had to get a new fridge, range hood, microwave and several cabinets. Nothing on the stove ever again for us.
