I need some gift ideas for a friend who just got into bbq (it's his birthday). I got him some bear claws for pulled pork/holding meat/etc but would like to get another thing or two. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Maybe get him some different rubs or sauces to try different tastes.

I'm thinking more tools/equipment/gadgets....he loaded up on rubs and sauces! Thanks for the suggestion though, OiSat.

How about a bag or two of good lump charcoal or all natural briquettes? My dad always likes that as a gift.

$25 buys a subscription to the bbq brethren.

But seriously you cant go wrong with a bbq thermometer fork

A good instant read thermo if he does not already have one.

A thermopop would be a great gift!

ThermoPop by ThermoWorks. A good priced and reliable instant read thermometer. I love mine. :thumb:

Charcoal chimney is always handy, and a box of nitrile gloves.

All of the above are great suggestions....

A couple more suggestions to add to the list...
Long Length Welders Gloves for handling hot grates and wood/charcoal trays.
Hot food handling gloves.

My advice to you is to think what helped you the most as a beginner, you might find what is most suited to his needs.

Cast iron pan, Maverick dual probe thermo, The Aaron Franklin, or Adam Perry Lang book. A gift card to one of the brethren sponsors, the stainless shaker from oakridge bbq, vacuum sealer, good boning or slicing knives.

What does he cook on? Could be cool accessories for his cooker.

Good suggestions so far. I don't know how much you are looking to spend but a Maverick ET732 is a great thing for a BBQer to have.

How about a workshop apron? I use mine quite a bit, and more useful than yer typical apron offerings (and more awesome to wear IMHO).
