I plan on smoking my second brisket ever and I'm in dire need of advice on how to season a brisket! I have heard of ppl soaking them in cola over night but that's about it! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yep. Salt and Coarsely ground pepper. Watch Aaron Franklin on Youtube. He'll give you a new appreciation for it.

No need to marinated in anything as they have enough fat. S&P is the basic type rub down as mentioned above; I like to add garlic, onion, paprika, and a chili you like if you want to add a little flavor to accentuate the smoke and beef. Main thing is keep it simple and let the meat and smoke do the work. Cook it until it is probe tender or if your not sure 200 in the point or 195 in the flat, then let rest for a couple hours well wrapped in a cooler or your oven.

Tried the salt & pepper rub on the brisket I smoked yesterday and the rub was good just messed up on cooking times again! I'm not sure if I over cooked it or didn't cook it long enough!

Slices but Dry - Undercooked
Crumbles but Tasty - Overcooked.
Don't go by Time - one Brisket may take 6 hrs and one take 10 hrs - cooked together in same smoker.
