Anybody upgrade their guru fan on their own? Meaning not paying 100+ dollars for a 10-15$ fan. I found the manufacture of the 10 CFM fan and found a comparable 25 cfm unit but its 120mm square vs the 75mm that the 10 CFM unit is.

Any Ideas??

I don't know of anyone who has, but I would be sure to get an exact match or the PID loop probably wouldn't work to well.

Its a Humprheys Pint, and I will be cooking 325+ on my big meats. Not Sure if I need a 25 but I was looking into anyways.

To address the PID overload issue, Guru says it will handle 2-25CFM fans, and I have determined that the lowest current draw for the same maufacture as the 10CFM is 490 ma, so roughly it can handle up to 1 amp @ 12VCDC total.

KAT - How much for the upgraded version you sell?

When we us the 25-CFM fan on our Vault we have to shut the 2" ball valve down almost all the way when running the GURU to help restrict the air flow because our Vaults run so efficient so you might have the same deal with the Humphrey.

We like to use the Cheap fan control from eBay because you can control the fan speed making a 25-CFM Fan act like a 5 or 10 CFM Fan.

We also put a flapper valve in the to help stop the air bypass when the fan is not running because some of the cookers out there like ours run so efficient that they can still climb in temperature even with the fan turned off.

I have upgraded guru fans before. I built a new shroud for my cousin and attached his old adapter part that plugs into the adapter. I ordered a fan off of eBay that was the same size and such for $10 and soldered it to the existing plug. I built the shroud out of some scrap 55 gallon drum. Pretty easy. I keep an extra fan or 2 on hand in case he or I have a problem with them. I could walk you through it if you are wanting to try it.

This might be a nice fan to use in my curing refrigerator to keep the air moving...
