Snagged a 18.5 Weber Kettle today for $30. It's a DI model which makes her a 2007. 8 yrs old.....But she looks great. It came with a cheap cover but the cover is in pretty bad shape. I'll need a new one.

Fwismoker, guess what I plan to eventually do with this grill?

1buckie, wife asked if I was gonna end up "with as many grills as that guy on your BBQ website"......lol. I showed her a pic of all your wonderful kettles a few months ago. :thumb:

Here's a couple pics of her:

How many pairs of shoes does she have, and can she cook on them?

Etiquette, my good man. It's Mother's Day so you should hide it from her for a couple of days and don't share your good fortune with her. "My wife doesn't understand me'" either but she sure consumes everything I grill, fry, smoke, pickle, or ferment.

Yeah I was worried about it being Mothers Day but I've been looking for a good priced 18.5 for almost a year. I got it because I was the first to make it to the sellers house....lol

She's not really upset anyway, I could get another one if I wanted, she was just razzin me....matter of fact I showed her a pic of a Shirley the other day. Her response "wow that thing is cool"....:thumb:

Lol, you are right! Or at least a WSM replica! That's what my comment to fwismoker was about. I'll be getting a stock pot soon. Hey then I can have my own cook off competition with myself! :heh:

But of course the PBC will win as Fwismoker would attest to.

If my wife said that a Shirley looked cool, I would be on the phone to Tyler that second.

Honestly she probably wouldn't care. But unfortunately, I'm the "money" person in the relationship meaning I do the budgeting meaning I can't afford a Shirley right now. I love the Shirley cookers but I really don't cook enough Q to justify one. They are working on a smaller vertical smoker though that I really like, check it out if you haven't seen it yet.

My wife loves this site. Keeps me at home cooking tasty food (I've come to realize how mediocre my attempts at grilling and smoking before this becoming a Brethren).

I figure she'd rather have me drinking beer in the backyard while cooking than drinking beer in a bar.

No not really. ....lol. I just got the "you seriously gonna get another grill?" look......:becky: I just got the PBC about three weeks ago, sold my Akron, now bought the 18.5 kettle Sunday. I think she thinks I'm losing my mind.

I was up to 15 at one time. Settled in on six that I use a lot. Got rid of two WSM's, an Akorn and a Tiernan SOB-48. Yea- I got the look too. Kind of enjoyed it. There are two SOB-34" on CL here in Amarillo right now. But, I have NM, Co, UT and MT flyfishing trips planned. But if'n I didn't :-))
