I would love to see pictures of some of your set ups. My wife is trying to help me better organize all my bbq stuff. This is where I chime in and say "you know this would be simple if I had a dedicated bbq trailer." I lost that battle for now:tsk: I look around and see spices, sauces, hot gloves, food gloves, pans, totes, stuffers, grinders, on and on. Where/ how do you guys without trailers organize all this? Labeled totes don't seem to be the answer for me. Suggestions/pictures please.

I made a separate prep area in the basement with counter top, cabinets, refrigerator, and freezer (like a small kitchen). I'm happy and the wife is also happy.

I took over the spice cabinet, the pantry, and 3 drawers in the kitchen. The wife is not happy

I have 2 big totes (one for chimney starters, gloves, extension cords, fire extinguisher, etc. And the other for zip locks, foil, food gloves, foil pans, rags, etc) 2 medium totes (one for charcoal - 2 bags and warm food bag. The other one is for change of clothes, snack food, etc) and 2 plastic toolboxes (one with utensils and such. The other for gadgets like fire starter, remote thermometers, thermopen, etc). The 2 boxes are different so at a glance i know which one to go to for what items.

You could set up everything outside like this...

Took half a garage(door on each end) and put in a meat's processing kitchen on one end, outside the door lives the smokers on pavers and a cheapo canopy. Life is good.

What about spices spices that can't deal with the humidity outside?

I love your set up, but that wouldn't work for me 5 months a year. What about your spices, gloves, coal, grinder, stuffer, etc.? By the way, beautiful set up!

The divorce method works for me too. No shed required, just pile it up on the kitchen table or where ever the hell you want. :blabla:

We do competitions, so most of our stuff is in organized tubs on shelves in the garage. The spices and other items are all on a dedicated book shelf in our office that is right off the kitchen. I have about three shelves in there for my rub tub, extra gloves, and extra rubs/sauces that are not opened yet. It keeps it out of the kitchen, but at a quick grab.

Yeah pretty much this :becky:. I do have spices and stuff inside semi-organized, but our kitchen is small so it is all kind of an open pantry setup since we have almost no cabinet space and no real pantry. Got some ikea shelves so you can see everything out in the open. Looks kind of unorganized and not a neat as things behinds cupboards or hidden behind pantry doors. Luckily my wife doesn't care at all. Our dining room which we don't use as a dining room is just a room for storing food and anything else we want to do in there.
As for outside it isn't much better I have a small cement patio that houses a few of my small cookers and then a few others around the backyard :clap2:. Maybe I'm lucky in that my wife loves that I bbq because it makes me happy and doesn't mind my bbq stuff or think of it as annoying or an eyesore. She just sees stuff that makes me happy.

I do the vast majority of the cooking at home, so my wife does not complain about my organizing the kitchen.
I have two cabinets with spices on lazy susans. A pantry for unopened backups. Just got a VERY large fridge (31 Cu Ft) and keep all my sauces, sauce makings, and marinades in there. The sauce makings go in a rectangular plastic tub that fits on a shelf, so I can pull the whole thing out. Same with BBQ sauces. A binder full of recipes and a steno pad for making new rubs and sauces and documenting them! Found out the hard way that making a really good sauce or rub and not remembering how I did it was painful...
Knives go in a 30+ slot block I found recently that holds all of my good knives. Really like it.
Also have a second fridge and large freezer in the garage.
Outside I have a 3-shelf rolling cart that holds all my at-the-grill supplies and doubles as a pan table when transferring food.
Here's a photo of that...

My wife almost never complains about my cooking gear or all the extra food supplies... :-)
Note the royal oak bag in the cart... That's mainly for weighing down the plastic shelf liner. Not a big fan of the stuff. Prefer the consistency of KBB/KCB...
