Did my first big cook for a buddy having a gathering next Saturday. We did 10 pork butts on 2 uds. Injected the night before with Chris Lilleys injection. Used mustard base and my homemade rub. Loaded the uds with kingsford blue and applewood chunks for fuel. Put the meat on at 8:00 am and wrapped with foil and some apple juice once the butts hit 165 at 1:30 pm. Let them roll like that till they hit 200-205 and made sure the bone wiggled loose. Uds ran solid at 250-275 all day. If anybody is wondering how many butts you can get on a uds with 2 grates and a weber lid it is 6. I would't want to try anymore than that. Overall everything went real smooth. Forgot to get any pics once it was all pulled, I was pretty much done and ready to knock a few back with some of my buddies that were giving me a hand.:becky:

Looks like that was about $10 per butt, that's a good price, congrats on a impressive cook!

Did you have a baffle plate under the 2nd rack? or How did you do it so the bottom rack butts would not over cook or burn??

el Gato,
I use this metal pan wrapped in tin foil as a diffuser between my charcoal basket and the 2nd rack.

I was told to make enough for 80 hunters. I used this website to figure out how much raw pork would be needed. After doing a little research on this site I decided to go with 80 raw pds.

Overall it took about 9 hrs for them to cook. We put them on at 8:00 am and they were done around 5:00 pm.
