View Full Version : New smoker decision... Drum roll please (w/pron)

I finally made a decision on what my next smoker would be. I was looking for a competition cooker, something I could load and unload from my enclosed trailer. I wanted plenty of room for a whole competition and I wanted something I could get a little sleep with. I researched and looked for months and I had it narrowed down to 2. Southern Q and Deep South were my top 2 choices. Yesterday I talked with Randall Bowman. He is attending the OBR fund raiser on Louisville KY. He also just happened to have this old thing sitting around the shop that he had demoed on a few times.... Long story short he is kind enough to be bringing to Louisville in 2 weeks which saves me freight or 16 hour day going after it!! Thanks to some guys on here for helping me find a smoker that suited me!

Did I mention both Southern Q and Deep South are both donating smokers to the OBR auction along with 270 smokers, Yoder, WSM and someone had pics of the best looking PDS (pretty drum smoker) I've ever seen!!! If you seen it you wouldn't call it a UDS either! Lol....I keep hearing a rumor there may possibly be some of The Pig's Blanket famous dry rub at this auction too, it has not been confirmed yet so stay calm:grin:. Nice choice. Hay I'll be picking my new smoker and trailer up next weekend 2/20 from Randall. I'll take look at your new smoker if you want and get you some additional photos of it if you want them?

You'll love it. I heard that Swamp Boys are changing to Deep South. Randall continues to add major comps to his list...

From what I have seen on them they are extremely well built heavy duty smokers. Plus they look good!

My recommendation is to go ahead and get all 5 racks instead standard 3. I wish I had all 5.

I agree I ordered mine right after Matt with POTTS BBQ got his, so I went off of his. I got 5 racks and all 5 with the upgraded round bar instead of the standard mess type racks and I also got every other upgrade for the GC28 that Randall offered.
She should be pimped out next week when I pick her up.

Yes, I am thinking that instead of buying two more of the racks with the expanded metal, I'm going to go ahead and get the round bar ones that you're talking about the upgrade.

And if either of you guys are interested in a Stoker II Wi-Fi, fan and adaptor, II have a brand-new one for sale, cheap. :)
