Another beauty. Congrats! How did you season the underside of the baffle and the bottom of the cook chamber? Looks like you would need a string mop to reach. Kind of been thinking about letting Paul pre-season mine. I know, I know...the seasoning should be my honor.

Smelling some funky wood as I'm seasoning it. Wood has been sitting outside under a tarp up off the ground for about 9-10 months. Wonder what it is, smells almost cedary. It's suppose to be oak or hickory.

I wonder if it is just the oil burning off or some other residue?

I don't know, really odd. Kinda glad I'm not cooking today. Smells almost like kiln dried.

Do you have something else to build a fire in? If so, that will tell you if it's the wood smelling funky.

Looks great, see those nice welds. You must be like a kid on Christmas morning.
You should be able to se and smell if its cedar - even dry.
Show us a close up pic of the wood. Cedar has knots, white oak no.

Took some of the pics of the welding seams to my engineer these days.
He looked at them and said "I wish our company had welders like them!":-D

Maybe, shipbuilding isn't the place for beauty......

Did I mention, that I like your new cooker? No? Sorry!
