Hey Brethren! Finished my mini and ran seasoning/temp. tests.
Had interesting results. First test was last weekend and I used lump. Yesterday I did everything the same, except with briquettes. The briquettes got to temp faster and got TBS faster.

Here it is with the briquettes.

5:19.......put about 20 lit coals from chimney on top of coals in the mini.

5:23......Cooker at 261* with intake and exhaust wide open.

5:29......At 351* at this time I closed both intakes to 1/2 open.

5:43......At 307* and getting TBS now.

5:53......At 264* and no visible smoke. Opened 1 intake full and left one 1
at 1/2 open.

6:01......At 271* and pretty much held that throughout the cook.

In 34 minutes from being lit it went from the white smoke in the first pic, to the TBS in the second pic. This little cooker ROCKS!! Thanks for looking.

Thank you. I think I'm already in love with it. 24 minutes from lit to TBS is amazing!

Well, while testing I did throw a couple links of homemade Elk sausage on it.

“TBS" stands for?

Thin
Blue
Smoke

As opposed to Billowing White Smoke. Take a look at the two pictures above and you'll see the difference. TBS is highly desirable when smoking food.

Good job on the mini OP, I'm thinking about making one myself. Have fun with it!

It's an easy build and seems to be a great little cooker. It's just my wife and I to cook for around here, so this is good for small cooks vs. the UDS. It's also very portable. Build one!

Hey, Mike, is there a thread where you cronicled your mini build? I need to finish mine.

No, I didn't do that, it went together in just a couple hours. I used the search feature at the bottom of this forum and saw other Brethren mini builds. You can also google it and find some. Also searched youtube. I looked at quite a few and picked out what I thought were the best parts of each. If you have any specific questions, ask me and I'll do my best to answer them for you. You will love it when finished!
Get yours finished and post some pics!!
