Hawgeyes BBQ Shack

Last call for barbecue from Hawgeyes BBQ Shack. It will be closing as of Aug. 18.
Hawgeyes has been smoking up Kansas City-style barbecued ribs, chicken, brisket and pulled pork for six years. During the warmer months, it has been open for business on Fridays and catering anytime. It's owned by TNT Outdoor Cooking Center, Nursery & Garden Center.
Owners Mike Tucker and John Church said they are closing the barbecue business because its manager, Ellie Booth, is expecting a baby and she plans to resign to spend time with her family. Tucker said in a letter to customers that Hawgeyes is "showing more profit than ever," but added "I simply don't want to jeopardize our reputation with a new manager, especially with the onslaught of new barbecue businesses moving into Ankeny."
They will continue to cook for friends and contractors for volunteer and benefit events, he said.
