Chicken package says "use or freeze by August 21". Not sure if 1 day makes a difference but I kinda hate to take a chance with poultry

Open it, smell it and look to see if there's any weird discoloration, when chicken goes bad it REALLY goes bad and you'll be able to tell. You shouldn't detect much of a smell to fresh, edible chicken but when it's bad or getting there it will have a rotten egg smell to it that get's worse as it continues to decay.

One day past the expiration date isn't bad. But trust your nose. If it smells chuck it. I've had chicken that was fine 3-4 days after the expiration. I've also had chicken that smelled awful 3-4 days before it expired so go figure right :-D?

Is it in a vacuum pack? I would take it out and rinse it off then smell it. Follow your nose brother, and remember "When in doubt, throw it out"

Not in a vacuum pack, just the styrofoam tray with cling wrap. I will open it and give it the sniff test just to be sure. Thanks everyone.

Just like milk, a few days over the Sell By date means nothing. Like everybody said, just use your nose!

Well....smells like chicken! So, a little poultry seasoning and wait for the Big Joe to get to 375.
