On Father's day my brother-in-law and I started building UDSs. Finally finished my UDS today. Seasoned her earlier and threw some chicken and rib trimmings on because I had to cook something.

Look like the Akorn has some serious competition now....

Thanks for all the info I found on this amazing site!

And the Tel-Tru Glow thermometer is pretty cool. To be fair though I did hit it with a flashlight before I took this pic.

You need to name that UDS the Flava Flav. That thermo is huge and definitely pimpin!

I think you've named 'er, Flavor Flav it is!

Here's a pic of a pork butt I cooked. It went well mostly. I have a lot of temp variation from side to side in there. I may end up trying out a cast iron diffuser similar to what I use on my Akorn to see how that helps.

Thanks for all the complements everyone. One thing flavor Flav definitely needs is a table! I think an Akorn table will bolt right up. I will let y'all know how that goes.

I won't take credit for the name! Aawa was the one to call that! See above quote.

Looks like the pork came out great! Lots of ideas for tables and carts in the UDS thread.

Cheers!

Looks great! Please, FLAVA not Flavor Flav.
You'd be uncool. Kick the Akorn to the curb!

I could never put my Akorn out to the curb, she's still a vital part of my BBQ arsenal. She's just playing second fiddle to Flava Flav
