I got tired of crushing my Temp Probe wires under the lid of my Weber Performer so I picked up a Temp Port this week end installed it yesterday. Here are some pics of the installation.

Here is the Temp Port I purchased from All Things BBQ. Its the same type used for their YS480/640/1500 Pellet Smokers.

I used a step drill to drill the 5/8" hole for the probe.

Darn it! I posted these links from my public Skydrive. Anyone have an idea why they are not working. Here is a direct link to one of them.

OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) doesn't have a good, easy way to share images...

you have to right click the image and choose "View Original"

then copy the URL of the image from the new tab address bar...

Cool mod man. Looks like it will be a lot easier then just putting the lid over the wire.

The crushing the probe wires thing has been bothering me for years now. I just ordered a Yoder YS640 with two of these ports and thought what the heck, I should just buy another port and put it on the Performer. I'm actually using it right now and it works like a champ!

Any plans on a plug to assist with shut-down time? Wonder if that would even be needed.

No plans for this. I don't usually choke down my Weber at the end of a cook. I just let what's in there burn down. If you wanted to you could just shove a golf tee or a pencil in there and tighten down the built-in seal. I'm just leaving it open.
