Been using El Yucateco habanero sauce mixed in with mustard and some lime to spice up dry rub rub. This particular sauce provides enough heat at the end of the cook to make it "very interesting" but not to much for most palates. It also a nice tangy flavor that is not as vinegary as most hot sauces. :-D

Slathered this…

… mixed in with your normal mustard step during the rub.

Then after applying the dry rub to the mustard and hot sauce slather, squeezed some drops of lime juice over the rub – just enough to moisten the rub but not enough for the rub to run.

During the cook I applied our normal BBQ sauce several times - basic spicy BBQ sauce plus JD, apple juice and maple syrup to achieve your desired taste & sweetness.
