Cooked a trip tip on the PBC and I think it was the most tender, delicious cut off meat I have ever had. Sorry no pics but so glad I gave this cut. a try. May be my new go to cook for special occasions. Other tri tip fans out there?

I grilled a tri tip tonight also, it was great!

What did you season with? I lightly coated in EVOO, sprinkled a little OR Black Ops and gave a very light sprinkle of Montreal Steak.

I've been wanting to do one for awhile, but they are hard to find around here. Guess I'm gonna have to break down and drive to the big city to get one.

Another tri tip fan here. When I have the time I enjoy them reverse seared.

I coated with olive oil and used the PBC beef and game rub. My local grocery stores do not carry trip tip, but found a butcher a few miles away that usually has it, but suggests you call ahead to make sure it's in stock. Glad I reserved my cut!

What's the best way to cook it? Cowgirl does a reverse sear.. like a thick steak I guess?

I hung it in the PBC until it reached about 110 then placed it on grill until about 130. I would have hung it the whole time, but wife wanted to eat so I tried speeding it up by putting it on the grill. Cut it very thin so not sure how important it is to get a substantial crust.

Heck yes!!
I cook them frequently as it is one of our favorites "steaks". Rubbed with Suzie Q's or The Rub Co Santa Maria rub and cooked over oak on my Santa Maria pit or just over Kingsford Blue(and a hickory stick or 2) on my Weber 22. I cook them until they are about 120 IT and then give them a sear. Drop the grill on the Santa Maria or throw them direct on the Weber. Pull at 132-135 and let rest under a foil tent for 30 minutes. You will be happy.

Oh yes!! I'm a TT fan. Here are some pics of TT and Tomahawk I did a while back on the PBC.

Pics don't to them justice though. A lot pinker than the cell pics show.

I LOVE tritip!!! My friend from CA put me onto it. Delicious!! I use a pre made rub of salt, garlic and rosemary that crusts us nicely with a reverse sear. To this point it's my favorite cut of meat. We have to special order in VA but it's still accessible.

Just ALL of California. Too bad it's no longer a secret. When it's on sale it is now $3.99 lb the norm is 5-6$ per lb.

It's 8.99 a pound in St. Louis. Probably one of the few items that is cheaper in California. Enjoy!
