I'm wondering how much hassle it would be to remove the pellet box from a Traeger 075, and mount a wood/charcoal box in its place. Has anyone here done this? Thanks.

I've only ever seen one Treager and that was a few yrs back IIRC they are thin tin cookers JM2C sell it and get a good stick burner that will hold temps and is easy to control. I can say this because I cook on a CharGriller that is extensively modified so it will work properly and still it will give me fits once in a while if the weather changes during a cook due to being thin tin.

+1..... I have not seen anyone do that to a Treager and I suspect there is a reason.

I'm wondering why you'd want to? Do you have one on which the pellet box became useless?

Not worth the effort.

If you want a stick burner, you'd be better off going and buying one. You'd have to extensively modify not only the outside of the Traeger, but the inside as well. You'd be turning a good pellet cooker into a poorly designed offset. Not sure why you'd want to do that?

I thought it might a good way to turn a pellet pooper into an offset. Traeger pellet poopers give little smoke flavor, period, and this is after adding a Savannah Stoker controller. The main smoker housing is very solid, so I though a firebox could somehow be bolted to the side.
