Smoke®

It rained here today so I unboxed the IQ and hooked it up to a mini. I got my coals going and put the smoker together checking the temps and settings. I set the IQ to 235° and adjusted the damper to the 2 setting and then closed the top damper until the temperature settled to the degree. I had a stainless bowl with water for a heat deflector. I put the chicken on and in less than 10 minutes it settled on the money. Close to the end of the cook I started going up by 25° increments up to 340° and it settled on the number each time without over shooting.
Running perfect

A ¾ inch pipe screws into the SJ gold. On the inside I cut one of the coal grates to feed the air under the coals through a 90° fitting and nipple. I don't know if this is a common practice and if so forgive the long post.

I started with two layers of charcoal and heated enough to fill the pipe and then lifted the pipe out. This much fuel was left after the practice run.
