I hope this hasn't been asked before, I haven't seen it recently.

I was considering wrapping my butts in tin foil for the last couple hours of cooking. Has anyone tried this? Or should I keep them uncovered, for full smoke penetration?

Not trying to be a jerk... have you tried searching (in the Google search box at the bottom of the page)? This is an often discussed topic.

I always wrap my butts in foil once the bark looks good and continue the cook, until tender and the bone pulls clean out.

Wrapping in foil speeds the cook up, and renders some nice juices to add back to the pulled pork.

Yes... Lots of us foil, lots of us don't. When I foil I do it based on the bark color. When the bark is the color that I want I foil and finish the cook in foil.

It's really a personal preference whether you foil or not.

No problem. It is a "powered by Google" site search. That is confusing when you see it on websites.

After my last cook, I will always be foiling. Juices stay where they belong.
Cooked a little too quick for me so I was up earlier than I wanted to be but tossed in the cooler wrapped in a towel and they were fine.

I toss in a tin pan once I like my bark and cover in foil. When done, toss the pan in the Cambro to rest. Works real nice.

Well I liked the way everything was going tonight so I skipped the foil until I took them off to rest. Just finished pulling, enjoying some bark and a beer now. Thanks guys.
