Picked-up a 13 lb. choice brisket at Kroger's today for $1.99 a pound, not the greatest deal but the best I have seen in a couple of months.

Was it in the weekly flyer? It's not in Memphis, but it could be an unadvertised special, or it's not a sale in this region.

Not a sale here then. On the bright side, baby backs are on sale for 2.78/lb at one of the local chains here. Even with their 10% added at checkout gimmick, it's a decent price. I'm going to grab a few more while the sale is still on.

10% added at checkout? Why?

I picked up three 15# briskets since the sale started and have taken every available cubic inch of freezer space we had available.

10% added at checkout? Why?

Good question. It's their gimmick. Make the add look like a great deal, then put the "Plus 10 % at checkout" in small print so it becomes merely a good deal or just regular price...all in all, their prices are in line with the other chains around here. It must work for them as they do good business.

Yeah, was at the market over the weekend. Brisket was $5.69 a pound and if I wanted it trimmed, then the price was $6.69 a pound. :( Who the heck buys brisket at that price? You can buy strip steaks for a couple bucks more.
