And I wasn't even expecting it! It was kind of a last minute deal, so while I usually brine any poultry, I did not. No marinade, just some All Purpose "Grillin' Magic" seasoning, and on the grill direct. While at the store, I also picked up a fresh mixed veggie pack, along with some ears of corn.

I seasoned the veggies up with some of the Oklahoma Joe's french fry seasoning (the best veggie seasoning there is, imo), and threw the cut up veggies in a CI skillet in the middle of the grill, with the drummies on the outside. After these were done I grilled the corn, and cut it off the cobb and mixed with the other veggies, and we were ready to eat! Sorry no plated pic, there were only 3 pieces of chicken left when I came in with the corn, so I had to hurry to get mine!

I also through a couple hickory chunks in on the KBB as well. Super simple, but let me tell you, they were delish! Sometimes, KISS really is the best strategy!

Looks great.

Yep no brine is needed for the best poultry plus direct heat is the way to go.

I have never been able to grill chicken direct. Every time I try I end up with outside burnt/inside rare or at least questionable. I usually go indirect and sear in the rear.

Good looking cook, I'm diggin' those veggies.....

The key to chicken direct, for me at least, is to keep it moving. I move each piece seemingly constantly, to keep it from getting too dark.

The veggies were great. I've never used a skillet on the grill, but I will again, for sure.

If you look at the OP's grill, he had direct heat, but it is really spread out and a scant one layer fire of KBB. It looks to me like he got low direct heat which may have a similar effect to medium to medium high indirect. In other words he got some bottom heat but not a grease fire causing inferno.

Yep! I wanted the heat concentrated on the skillet, and when those were done, I used the center terms section to crisp the skin and finish them up.
